Generally, when my brides are prepared for rain with a beautiful umbrella, we somehow narrowly avoid the bad weather. (I guess I should thank my father for all the golf umbrellas he purchased before my own sunny wedding day.) But if the rain should come, you’ll want to be both dry and stylish. After all, why miss a good photo op?
Umbrellas.net offers a variety of parasols and umbrellas, from bridal white to bold colors. I’m partial to magenta, but there are lots to choose from to match your event.
Bella Umbrella also rents umbrellas in solids and prints, with details like jeweled handles. Some cost as little as $10 to rent, so you can order multiples for your bridal party and guests, or even arm the valet drivers with matching umbrellas.
This would definitely count as your “something blue”!
Umbrellas from Galleria would be fashionable long after the wedding day, like this Monet design.
MoMA also offers some really neat choices, like umbrellas that change color when wet, or this vibrant one below.
There’s no reason to fear a little rain when you’ve already got the rainbow in your hands!
What a great tip! I would never have thought of accessorizing with a stylish umbrella on a rainy wedding day! So smart!
Thanks Suzy! I’ve seen some great photos with umbrellas. It’s a pretty way to incorporate some color and still get some outdoor shots, even if the weather doesn’t cooperate. And if it’s sunny, a closed umbrella is a cute prop to lean against!
