Activities for Your Out of Town Guests

When you have visitors in town for your event, it’s always nice to have some ideas for activities for your guests. While planned group activities are thoughtful, people also appreciate some free time to explore the city.

Chicago Architecture Foundation In addition to exhibits, there is also an extensive list of tours available including a Devil in the White City Companion Bus Tour, Frank Lloyd Wright Tours, Tiffany Treasures, and Foreign Language Tours in German, French and Italian. The River Cruises are also quite popular.

Grant Park Music Festival in Millennium Park. Click here for the schedule.

Chicago Chocolate Tours Year-round guided tours of chocolate and cupcake shops around Chicago.

Baseball Tours In the summer months, check out tours at Wrigley Field or U.S. Cellular Field.

Chocolate at the Pen On Friday and Saturday nights, check out the treats at the Peninsula Hotel.

Here are current and future exhibits at some of the city’s largest museums:

The Art Institute of Chicago

Museum of Science and Industry

Museum of Contemporary Art

The Field Museum

Shedd Aquarium

Chicago Children’s Museum

You can also check here to see the latest information posted by the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and request a free guide. Choose a few activities that will appeal to your guests’ interests and age groups. I always like to provide a map and a paper copy with suggestions to guests, whether it’s sent with the invitation or (preferably) waiting for them at their hotel.
