The End of Vintage Weddings

For the past few seasons, it’s been vintage everywhere: mason jar vases, DIY projects in brown kraft paper, chalkboard signs, intentionally mismatched decor. Weddings have had a sweet and casual feel that extended to almost every aspect of the event, from food to fashion and decor.

So as the vintage trend exits, what’s next? Look for a return to more classic, traditional weddings. Think more ceremonies in churches versus unconventional spaces. Dresses are again featuring fuller skirts, and we’ll see more sleeves as well as softly colored gowns, lace and laser cut details. Decor will showcase lots of white and metallics, with more elaborate embellishments like feathers, beading and crystals.

Personally, I’m excited to see a return to the formality – I love a bit of sparkle. While it may be easy to plan around what’s readily available, choose what you love, not what’s “in”! Incorporate flowers from your first Valentine’s Day bouquet, your shared school colors or your grandmother’s veil. The best weddings are both personal and meaningful to the bride and groom.
